The brand-new pieces are not as memorable as past games in the franchise (though I do have a soft spot for Daisy Hills), they are, however, serviceable and never grating. There are hints of melodies from past Mario Karts as well as remixes from games like MK64 and Double Dash. With his partner, an original score was scribed. Meanwhile, on the sound side of the spectrum, Kenta Nagata returns from an extended absence of composing for Mario Kart (the last title he wrote music for was Mario Kart: Double Dash!!). Use the bottom screen to know what perils await. This is a technologically impressive game, and it shows that Nintendo EAD knows the intricacies of the 3DS hardware extremely well. Even with eight racers duking it out for supremacy and a myriad of effects and items littering the course, there is never a hint of slow-down at all. Courses have complex geometry, special effects going on in the backgrounds and track-side such as cherry blossom petals raining down onto Mario Circuit's track surface and a downpour of water droplets pelting the road of Neo Bowser City. Character models are beefed up from Mario Kart Wii (the until now most recent game in the series) sporting more polygons and better shading. It is by no means essential to the gameplay, so no worries about not being able to see or use the 3D. The 3D successfully helps to gauge how far away or how close objects and turns are from your kart. This game is one of the first to have this feature. Right away when you boot up your copy of Mario Kart 7 you will notice that the game runs at an oh-so silky smooth sixty frames-per-second, even when the 3D depth slider is turned all the way up. Should you race to a store near you to nab a copy, or is this version of Mario Kart one that wipes out before the finish? What better way to ring in Nintendo's newest hand-held, the 3DS, than with a fresh installment of Mario Kart? Well, that is exactly what the house that the portly plumber built has done with Mario Kart 7, the first numbered entry in the illustrious party franchise. ![]() Barring the Game Boy and Virtual Boy, one Mario Kart has appeared on every Nintendo platform. ![]() There are a lot of unique courses, and some you'll recognize from previous Mario Kart games spanning from the SNES all the the way up to this one.Ever since its inception on the Super Nintendo, whenever there is a new Nintendo system to be had, you can be sure that a new Mario Kart will race onto it. Anyone will be able to pick up this game and play, it's pretty straight forward and not too demanding, though like I said, it'll get harder as you go forward, though I suppose that's true with any video game. If you've not checked the manual for this game (which comes within the game itself) note that you CAN delete the saved data by hitting A, B, X and Y at the same time before the Mario Kart 7 logo shows up before the game starts up. This is in the Mario Kart channal that comes with the game. Also, this Mario Kart game comes equiped with the ability to use the Spot Pass feature and Street Pass (you can exchange information with people you pass on the street such as ghost data and best times and try to beat them. Main game you can change the setting, however in the balloon pop game you have a 1st person perspective and you have the choice in game of what you do (though you could incorporate both here if you so choose. This is pretty a pretty cool feature but you don't have to race this way if you don't wan't. A completely new feature to this Mario Kart game unlike any other (at least for the hand held variety) is that you can steer simply by moving the 3DS system to the left or right. I imagine that if you get 3 stars on every race from every class you'll unlock something. As well as obtaining a gold trophy in the different cups within the classes, the game rates you from 1 to 3 stars based on driving ability. You un lock character as you go and as you go the races get harder. ![]() There is also a 7 icon pick up in which you'll get 7 different weapons at the same time (red shell, green shell, banana, bomb, mushroom, etc.). ![]() There are a few new weapon pick ups as well, such as the racoon tail and the ability to shoot fireballs from the fire flower. Also there are more characters that you can play with, including your Mii (once you beat all 50CC races) and now you can float through the air as well as drive your kart under water. This time around it's in 3D! It is pretty cool. This game is a lot of fun and retains all of the elements from the origiginal adds a lot more to it as well. I still remember playing to original released on the SNES quite ofen. Well Nintendo decided to put out yet another Mario Kart. MARIO KART 7, CLASSIC RACING GAME, A LOT OF FUN!!!!
